I've been swamped myself lately. We moved halfway across the country over the weekend, with 7 chickens, one of which was very broody. I must say as far as breaking broody techniques go, 10 hours on the back of a truck works very wellWe decided on Monday to put our farm (where we are staying now) up for sale, not expecting to get a firm offer to purchase within 24 hours! Which we are 95% sure we're going to accept, so I'll be moving again in 2-3 months' time. Halfway around the world this time. But, before I do that I'm going to hatch some chicks... I obviously don't have enough on my plate already.
I've started collecting eggs from my (hatchery) RIR hens today. They amazingly didn't miss a beat in the egglaying department, in spite of the move and being cooped up for 4 days at their new home. I'm planning to set the eggs this weekend.
awesomeness!!!Hatching experiment. We bought a Janoel 48 to use as a NICU, not as a hatcher, but I had a bunch of *really* old pea eggs and decided to see if I could get some to hatch. Today is day three.
