I keep finding articles like that gal wrote for the contest, but I need the TREATMENTs hers was vauge.. I think MOST people dont understand it!! so I should do the worming like now when its winter when the eggs can be thrown for a while...

But that wazine everyone uses is NOT for layers PERIOD this is frustrating....
You should ask someone like Speckledhen. If I remember correctly she recommended Valbazen as dewormer. I also prefer deworming when egg production is low. But I'm not really hassled, I eat the eggs afterwards. Haven't had any problems with worms

It was just a bit of a pain when I had lots of layers and customers wanting to buy eggs.

OMG Sumi did I show you the pic of the deformed beak and eyes of that chick I assisted when all the marans hatched last week? UGGGGGG poor thing

I am debating adding that to the end of the step by step assisted hatch article, so people KNOW what else they can find in assisting, weak, deformed sick chicks ???????????????????????????????????????
Maybe add a word of warning that sometimes the reason a chick don't hatch by itself because it's not right in some way. But of all the chicks I've helped only one was handicapped. The rest were fine.

I am wanting to know about deworming. After reading as much as I have about it I was just going to not worry about it unless I had a problem.

Sumi Thanks for the info about storing eggs for hatching. I have 2 people lined up to buy this weekend.

Hey y'all I know I don't have any eggs in the bator and it's driving me crazy not being able to be part of the action, but can I get y'all's advice on my chicken coop?
400

I tried to make it look like a temperate forest for my mallard duck, with leaves and pinestraw as bedding and some "trees" for scenery/roosts and there's a lil pond in there that I surrounded with clovers and pebbles, an the nesting boxes are supposed to look like a lil woodland cabin with a wood stack next to it :) is it ok?
And uggghhhhh I really hope I can hatch some more chicks soon... Should I try shipped eggs plus some local ones this time?
