I am going to post pics tomorrow (battery in the camera died) but I outlined the air cells in the eggs. Some are getting HUGE. I don't get it, humidity is averaging 55%. I will probably unplug the turner tomorrow just to try and help the air cells. :/ Actually outlining them really brought home some of the funky shapes I have in there. :(

Does anyone have experience with a brooding hen? I have a hen that has been on these eggs for awhile now...I never wrote down the date though but I feel its well over the expected date. I candled the eggs and they have odd air sacks but are moving. My concern is my hen though...I took her and the eggs inside my house...she is so skinny under those feathers..she is starving, although I have been feeding her but I don't think she has been getting enough and she refuses water...so I've tried to feed her foods n add water. She hasn't pooped either...so what do I do? I don't want to loose her
Broody hens don't eat much and I heard they lose up to 25% of their body weight in a sitting. Give her high protein snacks like the other suggested, yoghurt and mealworms and a little dry cat food and scrambled eggs and such. A little vitamins in her water won't hurt either. Watch out for the broody poop though. Actually you will smell it before you see it. Those things are unreal. LOL They store them up and then drop a huge one when they're ready, usually when they get up to take a break or walk around with the chicks.

I threw some fridge eggs in with this batch and I wash them. I wonder if this chick came from one of them. I don't know which shell she came from. This driving me crazy.
I'm so sorry

WE do not always know what causes such things... but did you take pictures to post just in case .. i had a hatchling with similar bubble but it was more red in color ... and i let him be in a seperate place for a few days, wrapped in awarm damp cloth and he actually lost the bubble and was fine ....

I'm planning on taking more when I attatch everything tomorrow. Tonight was just a test run to see if it worked or if I needed to move things. Thankfully it all worked like it was supposed to on the first try!
I'm hoping to get some wheaten amereucanas and some olive eggers. I'm planning on selling eggs and I want to have colorful ones. I had bad luck with hatchery stock though (lots of meat and blood spots. I don't mind them but it does make it hard to sell) so I'm hoping to buy from BYCers because i know y'all select against that.
