Well thats ok, it will get them moving!! did any jump out of the egg? lol new incubating technique!!

Shaking them up must have worked I have more pips this morning...it could have something to do with it being day 21 though.

I don't know if it really helps or not, but starting around day 14 every incubation I do, I always play some music for the eggs to listen to every day, since that's about when they are really able to hear. It seems to help with my incubations, but I was wondering do y'all think it really helps the chicks to hear music every day? I've been doing it instinctively every incubation and I wanna know what y'all think of the idea?
Interesting idea. Maybe it does help. I've heard somewhere that if you play music for cows they produce more milk. Maybe it's similar to this except it's for hatching of eggs.

I definitely start talking to them more. I also do the talking, peeping, encouraging them on hatch days as my birds are all outside. I hope this time my video enthusiastic son doesn't record me! I don't want to be the next youtube sensation. Egg whisperer. Susan

you have already done the candle and tap? you did not see movement so you moved on to floating them?
I would candle and tap and listen again.

Thanks for the advice Sally and Sparky.

I recandled and tapped with a pencil but unfortunately, still no motion or chirping. My gut is that they died likely immediately preceding pipping.

maybe I'll float them again this afternoon just to make sure?

Anyway, after floating, candling, tapping etc, what would be the next move? Is there a certain way I should open the egg that may tell me what went wrong? I'm thinking if there is still no tell tale signs of life by tonight, I may try the artificial pip to see if at least an internal pip occurred then judge from there.

Unfortunately these are shipped eggs with very poor air cells...

Quote: you can go ahead and mark air cells and then make an external pip, STAY ABOUT the air cell line and then open them at air cell enough to creating a viewin hole and see if they are alive... if they are you wouldnt have compromised them if you stay ABOVE in the air cell and AWAY from inner membrane.... if it is alive put it back as is!
