It looks like a navel infection to boot, see its abdomon is sorta glassy looking? after you stop the bleeding and iodine or antibotic oinment let it in the bator and wait....
sometimes these guys can make it I can link you with some good reading in a minute.

I double checked my notes....

Usually the umbilicus will become black in colour, shrivel up and drop off.
Generously cover the umbilicus with Betadine cream, to protect the area from infection,
and leave it. Close monitoring will be required. Any sign of redness or infection
will require the chick to been seen by a veterinarian, and likely a course of
antibiotics will be prescribed.

Anyone else join in here please! I only have a small window of time to do my chores and let all the critters out so I will be back in a half hr!

Good morning and hi to everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself here. I live in Michigan. Just got back into chickens last year after not having any for about 20 years. I recently bought an incubator and thought I would join in the fun all of you seem to be having.
I had hatched some eggs a long time ago always with low hatch rates.
I have been reading and learning a lot from you folks. Hopefully if I have any problems I will have already read how you dealt with them. I have also been reading the 'hatching 101'. Thanks Sally! Tons of information. If you don't mind I will just keep reading and learning, not usually one to say much. Will let you know when I get eggs set. Not for awhile, still too cold here.

Don't be shy about asking questions. We love to help and Sally has put a lot of time and energy into her research.

Sterling-they lay around and catch their breath as they dry. Antibiotic ointment on the umbilical. Then when dry use save-a-chick or sugar water to give them a boost of energy. Save-a chick is best since it is full of good vitamins and electrolytes.

GO cochins go!! find any local gos?
I found one person that MIGHT have a couple embden goslings but I'm hoping to find another sebastopol gosling if I can. I found 2 people that have sebastopol geese somewhat locally and I was going to ask them whether or not they ever have goslings available.

Otherwise I may buy some more sebastopol hatching eggs and give it another go. I can only have 2 geese and I'd like to have a breeding pair if possible.
