Oh, I have a feeling that won't be an issue. ;)

MommaBee, you must be going crazy waiting! I'm not near that phase yet but I will probably be pulling my hair out when the time comes... I have no advice for you since I am new to this but good luck!

Well I am new too. I guess, haha I was really new to hatching 5 weeks ago. Since then I have hatched 22 (stubborn chick would make 23) chicks in 4 hatches thanks to shipping disasters and staggered hatches! ;) And yes, this is my very last chick of the season. So I am pulling my hair out! Haha it's exhausting!

Does it look like it's trying to hatch? What's strange about it?

Sorry, I don't think I understand the situation.

It pipped or tried to zip a hole, not in a circle around the egg. Just erratically made a giant hole. Great for viewing but it seems exposed? Make more sense? Sorry I guess I'm not describing it right. Wish I could post a pic.

Leave it be for now. It's getting air and it sounds like it's trying to hatch.

Unless the membrane dries out, it should be fine.

Stubborn chick update! It went to town after I made that lil breathing hole. I can only assume it is resting now, but I can see it very clearly thanks to its hard work. But it was so erratic the way it was pipping/attempting to zip? It made a huge hole, like in a small circle. The two that are hatched and fluffing started pecking at it, so I put it in a bowl with a paper towel. Membranes look moist except around its internal pip? Strangest looking thing I have ever seen. Think my making a breathing hole caused this or is it just stuck/waiting?
Just keep an eye on it. They will usually make their hole bigger and then start zipping. I bet she is pretty close. If it looks like she is trying to zip but not getting anywhere then you might want to jump in and help her.

Here we go.... You can kind see its beak at the very top of the hole in the pic... errr umm bottom of the pip line... sorry picture is upside down. Need more? Let me know! If it is normal then tell this newbie to sit down!

You know what is funny? I do not remember these scenarios in my 2nd grade class when we hatched eggs! Haha, maybe it was because they were not shipped? Maybe it was because my teacher let them die or removed them before we got to class. Either way I am not touching it for a while. I still see faint veins. Just thought it was interesting.

i have a question ... its more for duck people but anyone who might know feel free to chime in ... we lost out male while i was away from town helping out with family... the female did not lay for two or three weeks and finally started back... is it possible any of the eggs would still be fertile after 6-8 weeks ? it looks like a bullseye in the two we checked but i am not certain ..... i just wanted to ask if it was possible they were still fetile that long after losing a male ?

Yay! Fish can be just as addicting as chickens, hehe. :D

But please don't put koi in a 10 gallon tank, they get WAY too big.  Some of mine are 2 feet long and over 20 years old.  If you put them in a 10 gallon, either they will out grow it, or their growth will be stunted causing a very early death.  PM me if you want more information.  The best fish for a 10 gallon tank would be fan-tail goldfish.

Awww really? The pet store I got it from had it in a 10 gal tank.. I asked them if it was ok to have the koi in there and they said yes /: maybe it's a special koi? One that stays small? Darn in payed 20 bucks for that fish...
I think I did get some sort of fantail goldfish! I'll post pics later

She's beautiful, she looks a lil like my australian spotted

Awe thank you!

Congratulations. I love fish and invested quite a bit of time in them myself. Watch that koi, they are jumpers.:D

The only hen I ever had that laid at 16 weeks were my RIR's. Everyone else was from 20-28 wks. Lord, that wait took forever!! The longest wait was my Lav Orp. She just started at 35 wks!!!

Lol thanks :)
