Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Umm I am not sure how it's going. Hope is doing magnificently good, but I don't know about the eggs. They don't smell yet, and I candled one two days ago and it had internally pipped. Should I poke a hole in the air sac? Another one I could see moving in the air sac really well when I candled yesterday night, but it hasn't pipped yet either. What should I do? Hope keeps putting her head up to the eggs and peeps to them- she knows they're in there. Should I buy a few chicks once I'm sure that these eggs won't hatch? What kind should I get if I do? I think at least one exotic chicken would be cool to have, but the others would have to be good egg layers. Any suggestions for a friendly kind of chicken(s)? By the way, do you think she's a she?...

Also, I am the WORST gift wrapper ever. I just put wrapping paper all over it in no fancy fashion whatsoever, and just tape it a billion times so nothing peeks through. XD lol

I think you should open it at the air sack and see what's going on in there. I've heard of chicks losing their egg tooth and being unable to pip through the shell. Might be the situation here. Good luck and give Hope a big kiss for me.

And don't feel bad. I don't bother wrapping presents half the time. I just leave them under the tree the night before Xmas!

Haha! I don't think Hope likes attention very much... especially if she has to be pulled from her heat- haven for a minute. XD I love the personality that chickens have. I can see it already in Hope. Hopefully if another chick hatches, it will be more willing to have snuggles.

What if I open the air sac a little bit, and the chick was dead/bad in the first place? Will it explode on my hand?

That is how I like to wrap or not wrap. I also love bags with lots of tissue out of the top. Pretty with minimal effort.

Can't wait to see what 3D finds. This has been a crazy hatch.

EMERGENCY! One of the chicks was trying to internally pip and I opened up the top of the egg. One of the chicks died because it externally pipped in the wrong spot. I don't know how long it was in there after it pipped until it died, but I am very sad now.

what does the membrane look like on the one you saw moving
