I am getting hold of 12 Giant Cochin (Blue, Black and Splash) and 12 Cuckoo Marans hatching eggs this weekend. I need to keep my skills up

I will do a chick for egg swap with the off grid mama that does not have reliable power.

So this week, in between moving, I have to build a bator as mine are in the Philippines - but what the heck, I like a challenge - and who needs sleep anyway??

Mrs Oz is driving to the beach house as I type to drop off some supplies and take some pics of the chicks. I will post them inmy thread once she puts them in dropbox.

The bator is rocking. Probably a day early hatch as I have had temp issues...well I haven't the weather has 20s one minute and 60s the next. Next hatch I am relocating the bator to a different room.

Blackberry and Chocolate Ancona Ducklings 27 days old and Clementine is from end of November hatch!
And of course my 3 youngest!

Lovely pics! Gosh, they are growing up so fast, I can't believe it.

nah, been too busy with reading about chickens.

I am waiting up all night for Mrs Oz to get back to the city and put the pics in drop box so I can see them.

I may have found a place. I will find out tomorrow. Funnily its across the road from a Filipino market and fast food joint. Must be a sign LOL

Good luck with the hatch! (Almost said good "cluck") Guess that would be more appropriate.

I was wondering about that here. The house's heating is iffy, so upstairs is almost always cold, except for an hour in the evenings, downstairs is warmer, but comes and goes as we don't have the range and woodburner going all the time. Afternoons and evenings mostly. I'm considering putting the bator in the lounge as it's about the most constant temp. i.e. always cold LOL

I got a cute little bantam egg this morning, but I'm going to drive out to some people we discovered with chickens not too far from here and see if they got a roo. And what breeds they have. They advertised free range eggs for sale on their gate. I'm hoping they'll have something I can hatch.

I found a breed table on a site: http://woodlotfarms.com/Chicken_Breeds.html

All the links come back to the breeds page here. I messed with it to develop my list a little
