Quote: No, it's a Panasonic BF-310. Just a cheap little flashlight we picked up at a petrol filling station. We needed one because it's so dark here on the farm at night, we don't have outside lights where we need them and we sometimes need to go outside. So we just went and bought the flashlight we found. It's not terribly bright, but it's great for candling eggs!

The layer penn Roo passed so I added two of my Partridge Brahma Roos, one blue and one gold to the coop, but they are too young for roo stuff, and I think OZ needs pures to take with him. And my pures pens are all young and not laying yet.
I see. How many chickens do you have in total??

sumi gave me a pic!!! another update in the article!

If the egg is fertile, the white mark will be nearly perfectly round and in the center it will be yellow;
it will resemble a donut. If it is infertile, the white mark will not be very round, and in most cases, smaller than that of the fertile mark. If the egg is not fertile, the 'white mark' is called a "blastodisc". If the egg is fertile, the 'white mark' it is called a "blastoderm", and this means that cell division, because of fertilization, occurred.

I would love to, money is an issue for me right now and we wont have hatching size eggs until middle/late summer, by then I will have the dark brahna and serama, I have a trio of cochin now who just started laying but want more nice hens. the hens I have are very nice show breeder stock, so thats what I was attempting to find and failing miserably.

your so sweet Mr. OZ

I soooo wish I could give you tons of eggies! All my birds need to GROW GROW GROW!!!
then you will just have to collect eggs for my memorial day trip - or the thanksgiving one, or the christmas one - this year or next even. One of the local BYCers is going to ferry me the eggs on Feb 9. I will post them on feb 10. just PM me where to send them. There are cochin pics of their that have one shows - its worth a shot. I am hatching some for offgridmama and will collect some next generation eggs for the phils.

Hang onto the foam to reuse when you get those Bramhas going - i am not in a rush.

Quote: OZ you Rock, but I cant take you up on that! your too generous! This is why your so cool!! Thank you for your wonderful self! It will fall into place for me at some point in some time, just hopefully sooner than later! I will hatch my own chicks from my 2 cochin in a month or so, the eggs should be bigger then, but only the black is laying so time will tell. I so love you guys, it amazes me how most that also enjoy chickens are such wonderful giving and caring people! Thanks OZ
