I had a chick that used to fall asleep all the time. Eat, eat, sleep. Walk, walk, sleep. We called her Dopey and she was my favourite hen. In spite of only laying her first egg aged nearly 9 months!

Ok, Update.

I have one chick out, one zipping and two pipped. I am a little worried about one b/c it was the first to pip but is progressing very slowly. It pipped around 12 hours ago and only enlarged that pip (maybe starting to try to zip?) within the last two hours. I can at least see the little one's beak now. Looks like he/she is panting.

Congrats! What you described with the slow hatcher is normal. I've had chicks do that with me. They'd pip and do nothing for the whole day and I'd get worried and go to bed in the evening and first thing in the morning I'd check and find a chick. Hatched no problem. It's when they don't make any progress at all for 24 hours that you should worry and think of helping. But give this little one time and keep us posted

Wow!! The slow poke chick just zipped half the shell in about 15 minutes! I checked 15 ago and the hole was a touch bigger, I come down now and OMG!!! guess someone told the little fluff he was slow...
