Gave the newest chick some vitamin/sugar water. Turns out I had some of DS's vitamin drops so I massively diluted it and added in the sugar. I really hope the little one pulls through. She was falling asleep in my hand while I was trying to give her the drops. :( There is still some membrane looking stuff hanging off of the yoke/protrusion and it is bigger than I thought. :(

Separate note, when do you recommend doing the float test? I have 14 eggs with no signs of more pips since this last chick. :/

That's why I was so scarce today actually.

Now, actually, but candle and check for internal pips first! I don't float test, I tap them. If you don't get a response and don't see internal pips, make a smallish hole in the far end, wet the membrane with a Q-tip and check for movement from the chick.

Please read my thread under Incubating & Hatching Eggs called - Assisted Hatch Chick put back under Broody Hen, Help Please

I just want to know if I should just leave it alone and not dab it with water, since the hen probably provides enough humidity for it. I'm just not sure, it is cold in my house, but the eggs certainly aren't, so I know under her, the chick is very warm.

Please help. I know, I did wrong, probably shouldn't have helped, but I've only been dealing with this for a few months and keep learning the hard way.
