Hi all, just had a quick look at my eggs: 4 showed development

My flashlight's battery is a bit weak from kiddo playing with it all the time, so I couldn't see much detail, but I'm positive about those 4. I will candle again Friday.

:hmm whoa I hope all those people in the accidents are ok!

We had a terrible storm blow through with tornado watches everywhere and the wind was so strong that it blew my umbrella inside out! I think there was more here than there is in a waterfall! And to make things worse, the power went out, the roof started leaking, there were accidents and sirens everywhere, and I didn't get my eggs! >.< GAHHHHH
Sparky I drove from PA to GA in the middle of all that wind rain and tornadoes .... it was an AWFUL mess .... then get here to a round of winter snowfall !!!! Trying to get caught up on the thread now but man have ya'll been chatty .. congrats to everyone who has hatched broody or otherwise and good luck to those starting hatches !!!
awwwww Glad you got there ok!!!

I am dealing with roosters now. I have 4 in my big coop and they are all going a litttle crazy with their spring hormone rush. They are getting bachelor pens made until I decide who goes and who stays. Trust me. They were all sweet and wonderful and this past week got to where you could not turn your back on them. I would keep only the ones you need for breeding if that is what you are doing. If you want to keep them all plan on having a separate cage for them. One that you can add food and water from the outside. Good luck. I am now arming myself with my steel toe boots and thick leather gloves before venturing among my flocks.

I do have big birds. My buff rooster is about 12 lbs and he is smaller than some of my younger blacks. If you keep your roos together there will be fighting as they figure out who the head roo is going to be. I would just keep an eye on them. I am dealing with one of my 5 month old black cockerels who thinks he has to challenge me every time I go in the coop. He is slow to learn who the head honcho around here is but he will figure it out or find his life expectancy shortened.

LOL 12 lbs is pretty big! I have been putting a lot of thought into getting a bigger breed. I won eggs on this website Olive eggers to hatch and I just don't know if its a good idea mine being small and all.
