I put my eggs in lock down at 6:30am today and I have a new hova bator 1588 and my humidity is at 58% is this enough.I also have the red plug in still I have read you take them out please help this newbie out.

I would firstly remove the plug. oxygen exchange is important at this stage.

58% is almost good. If your wells are full, then you could add a wet sponge in a tupperware if you can. once you have some pipping, the humidity will spike further.

I like to get my humidity up to 65% for lock down. That means I put a wet towel or something in as well. I like to place it under the vent holes so I can drop more water down on it as it dries out. This last time seemed like it dried out quite often and I ended up putting a plug in and half covering the other vent hole. The air has been so dry here with heater and fireplace and this thing they are calling a drought.

Once you get the humidity up all you have to do is monitor it and wait and wait and wait and inspect with your little flash light and wait some more. These next 3 days will be long and boring and then the action will start and you won't be able to stop watching. Keep it closed and wait until all your babies are out then open.
