just had another great idea!! Since I have never shipped eggs I would like to try an experiment. I'm making egg foam holders for my duck eggs and need someone to send them to...it will be just 2-4 eggs as an experiment and to keep cost down but what I need is for someone to volunteer to recieve them and then take pictures of the box on arrival then note air cells and condition of eggs then attempt to hatch them and if they hatch note the hatch rate and keep updated report here on BYC.

I'm doing this so that I can develop a safe/secure packing to ship eggs ...I believe that the ability to share our love (ok addiction) of hatching eggs be available to everyone on this site despite their location. I know that it sounds like i'm reinventing the wheel but I would like to be able send eggs knowing that they will arrive in the safest condition possible. now I know there was someone from Canada wanting ducks...

I wish you had french white scovy I am still wanting to get some to hatch for my Dad. That place that took my payment for some back in October still says they dont have any eggs, do you think I should get mean and ask for my money back, i knew the price was too good to be true. But I always give people benefit of doubt and they are from texas it should be warm there not and do scovy lay year round?

Very tempting, but I don't really want to raise any more ducks until summer.

I wish you had french white scovy I am still wanting to get some to hatch for my Dad. You should ask them if they plan on sending your eggs any time soon. If they say 1 month, maybe give them a bit more time, but otherwise I'd ask for my money back. Was it an ebay action? Did they say that it was a pre-sale?

Eggs for hatching must be packed in new, clean containers and accompanied by a certificate issued by a veterinarian of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, or one issued by a State veterinarian and endorsed by a veterinarian of that Bureau, stating that to the best of his or her knowledge the eggs come from a flock that is free from Newcastle disease, fowl pest, or fowl typhoid. See 135.3 for method of packing.​

135.3 Packaging​

135.31 Infectious Biological Substances​

Infectious biological substances are limited to 50 milliliters (ml) per outside package and must be packaged in accordance with DMM 601 and as follows:
a. The second watertight container must also be surrounded by sufficient absorbent material to absorb the entire contents in case of leakage.
b. Screw cap closures must be reinforced with pressure-sensitive tape.
c. Infectious substances shipped in a refrigerated or frozen state must not be sent in an inner container with a metal screw cap. A heat-sealed skirted stopper or metal crimp seal must be used to prevent the contents from leaking.
d. When wet ice is used as a preservative, the following procedures must be followed:
(1) The ice must be placed between the second container and the outer packaging.
(2) The outer packaging should be designed with interior supports to prevent it from collapsing after the ice melts.
(3) The entire package must be leak-proof.​

135.32 Noninfectious Biological Substances​

Noninfectious biological substances are limited to 1,000 ml per interior primary container and 4,000 ml per outer shipping container and must be packaged in accordance with DMM 601.
Note: Dry ice (carbon dioxide solid) is not acceptable in international mail.​

139.3 Eggs​

139.31 Restrictions​

Eggs may be sent only by parcel post. See 550 for nonpostal regulations on dried whole eggs.​

139.32 Packaging​

Eggs must be packaged in the following manner:
a. Eggs mailed to any country except Canada must be placed in a metal egg container. Each egg must be packed in cushioning material. The metal egg container must be enclosed in an outer container of wood with cushioning packed between the two containers.
b. Eggs mailed to Canada may be packed either as prescribed in 139.32a or in a box of rigid material with a tight-fitting lid. Each egg must be wrapped in protective material and placed on end. Vacant spaces in the box must be filled with packing material to prevent the eggs from striking each other or the box.​

Very good thing I'm to impatient for these things . I prefer the quails hatching pip and zip ! lol He's already a mouthy little fellow lol I like Wee Willy Wonka he might have a name if it turns into a little roo

And just cause their cute a picture of my little chicks. I hatched more this time than I have in all of the last year . I should have read more on this site last year

Twenty, although four of them I think are not going to hatch for sure. But I'm not so confident in my candling skills with my home made candler to have tossed them before lock down. So 16 then
