Glad you're back with us. Did you end up washing your gunk covered eggs or tossing?

I washed them. If they survive - great. I was really ****** because of the fact that I have such narrow windows to acquire eggs. If something breaks or ships covered in poop, I cant just re-set the next week.

These were 6 lavender orpingtons. I had 7 more come from another source. Hopefully I get a breeding trio from the bunch.

I'm reading reading reading... My local guy was a very nice man! Who knew getting "into chickens" would have me meeting some wonderful people. So... I have now 26 eggs My temps are steady, but I am going to make sure with an overnight sit with no openings... I have two questions:


One... what do you do with poopie eggs? I know not to "wash" them, but do I do NOTHING? Not bad dirty, just some crusties here and there and yes I tried to pick it off.. not much happened


and TWO: This is Fertile right? Right!? RIGHT!!!! I'm so excited!


I also have an egg from my Polish and my Orpington, just to see what comes out... ( Daddy is the buff colored Polish guy) And a Bonus egg the Black Austrolorp I bought from really nice chicken guy laid in transit.

Just ONE live chick at the end... Just one and I'll be so happy! Oh... editing because I really have 25 eggs... because one sacrificed itself to the fertility check.

The Plexiglass is just on the two sides - 12x24 the center lid is off.

This was supposed to become the hatcher - but with all the dramas with thermostats and eggs, I had to settle for building just one bator.

Very fertile and they dont look too dirty, I would let them! AWESOME!! read on! YAY!

I set them. No washing. Yes that is a fertile egg. PolishXOrpington picturing a huge chicken with a poofy head.

Did I tell you I put Harmonys single black polish in the layer coop, they just all backed away from her! he he he
No picking on her thats for sure!, now the 2 OE's they just wont let them alone!
