Ok, I'm skipping a ahead a bunch of pages, so hopefully I'll find an update on the chick. I have only had 2 babies foam at the mouth before. Goosey, and a silver laced cochin bantam chick. The reason they were foaming was because they broke their yolk sacs. Both survived with special care.Ummm it was clearly foaming at the mouth. Took it out, used a q-tip to absorb it so it could breathe better! This does not look good friends!! I see veins the more I pull off the shell. I will try to kick DH off the computer and upload the most recent pic! In the meantime someone bring a cold stiff drink to Texas! I might be a cowgirl at heart but this operation crap is for the birds!!
I am not sure about ducks, but if you really want them and you have space in the bator I would steal them, but I was really burnt today with mother nature : ( so I may still be a tad MAD AT HER and this is effecting my opinions!I know this the wrong place for this but a few of you have broodys so I thought I'd give it a shot. So i posted a couple weeks ago about my broody runner nesting and setting in the brambles in my yard. I moved her into the coop with her eggs and she took them back to a different nest in the yard. Today should be hatch day and I noticed ants on some of the eggs so I candled and one was rotten. I made a large dog crate (which is what everyone suggested i do on the broody duck thread and now no ones been on there for over 2 days) into a nest and we put the rest of her good eggs in there and then put her in to. She has covered the eggs with shavings an is just standing over them. How long til I worry and maybe put them in the incubator? I hope I didn't mess up I just was worried with the ducklings hatching in the yard attracting predators with lil quacks. What do I do?!!!
