she knows she has a while until her hatch is complete. When she thinks it is done she will take her babies and show them how to eat and drink and be merry. Chicks can go up to 3 days living off of their yolk.

Thanks! This is my first time hatching. It's all very scary and exciting. Now I feel like I can't sleep knowing that little baby is in the next room. It's so tiny I can't believe it doesn't suffocate under mama!

Just enjoy. It is amazing to see how natural they are. I read every book and website I could find when I was expecting and still was not prepared. Momma hen will do fine.

Maybe a few hatches from now I will be able to breath a little easier. It's amazing to see her with the chick already. So protective.

Quote: Tell me about it! I was just concerned about getting them to hatch o.k. so I didn't think much further than that, but after spending 4 days with the first hatched one and getting all that in-your-face duckling love... Oh my, I'm in trouble!
This is exactly why I can't hatch them!! I'm bad enough with chicks!
Quote: This picture was yours? It was a standout for sure in the Cutest Baby Fowl Contest!!

I keep forgetting to look into dimmer switches!! Thanks for the reminder!
adding.... did I say bator break?? I forget but I don't think I said I needed a break.
Ummmm...Pretty sure somewhere a while back I saw something about, break, right after the Hatch-a-long, been a while......Maybe I was just seeing things

UPDATE on chicks and one is a pain in my ars for sure! BUBBA 2! uggggg

But I CANT believe they progressed this far, and I though the one was a gonner at lunch! but I had him with me all day!
They are so cute, and your pain in the arse is just as loud as my pain in the arse!
so this is one of the reasons Mrs Oz and I are apart. Way cuter than even a baby goose

Aren't they wonderful? My roo is the most cuddly out of all of them. He lets me hold him like a baby and rub his belly.

Another question... whats the standard procedure with handling the chicks that are with the hens? I want to interact with them and socialize them but I don't want to cause any unnecessary trauma.
