Quote: not worrying never happens lol im a worry wart by nature hoping they hatch by themselves though ... not sure i am good at the assisted hatch lol i just wanted to know what to do different between the two so i am well prepared ..or as much as i can be
Look, if you have been here on this thread for a while, you surely can assist a hatch!! I have only had chickens for 1 year and 2 months. Had my first broody and she hatched out 4 eggs and abandoned one. Without Sally's article about assisting, that little baby would have died in the shell!!!!
Just look at this- If I could do it, you can too!!!!!!

Sally, it's name is Sassafrass, forgot to tell you earlier!! He got his name for you too, when Oz called you SassySally on his thread, I was telling DH, and ROFL, and he later knew i had used your experience to help that baby. It evolved into Sassafrass.

Does anyone know what this might be? The stain just appeared in the last days of incubation and doesn't smell or anything, its not mine I'm asking for someone else :) thanks

No...nothing dripped on it. It just grew there and I noticed it when I opened the bator. I looked all inside to make sure none were broken or splattered on it and all of them were fine.

I rubbed it and it was just like the egg changed color because the surface is still all even
