if the thermostat is correctly set, the pilot light should remain on until it gets to temp. You need to adjust it but sit over it and watch. This is where I have killed eggs before. I thought I was all set and came back 5 hrs bator and the temp was 105.

Good luck

I have my chicken toes crossed for you
if its getting there dont touch!!

good luck

Okay i have a little story to tell about a little chick that was one of the last ones that I hatched the other day. This is a never give up, thinking a chick is dead because you cant see it breathing and it is ice cold. I got up this morning and went to feed and checked on the checks last before getting ready for work. The poor little thing got stuck between the ecoglow and wall of tote, and i thought it was dead when i picked it up, ice cold, no breathing, so i pushed my finger on its chest to see if I could feela heart beat, very faint. So i put it up against the ecoglow heating element and it started to move a little and then took a breath, I took it and put it under a heat lamp close and it started to breath more. I put it in a box with a heat lamp close. When i left for work it look just like a noemal chick sleeping. So never give up hope. I will post pics of the little one when I go home.
good save!!

Quote: I've also started skipping posts. The thread moves so fast. DH is not doing well and I'm worried about him. We cancelled the house hunt for now and are at this stage trying to figure out what would be the best way forward for us. It's difficult trying to figure out what to do, big decisions pending... We were up 'till nearly 01:00am last night talking about this, so I'm half asleep and on energy drinks today! So you guys must excuse me if I'm scarce. I've got a lot going on at the moment.
OMG, do I know that feeling....hope your DH will be ok!!!!

CHICKENS - 4 to 6 weeks of age: for each 100 birds, use 1 fluid ounce (30 ml) of Wazine-17 in 1 U.S. gallon (3.8 liters) of drinking water.
Over 6 weeks of age: for each 100 birds, use 2 fluid ounces (60 ml) of Wazine-17 in 2 U.S. gallons (7.6 liters) of drinking water.
Treat broilers at 4 weeks of age and thereafter at 30 days, or as needed. Treat replacement pullets at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age.
