Good news. The last one that hatched is doing great and is now in the brooder. I have another one almost out. Should have two more by morning. They are both trying to get out. This was the three that I thought had a chance. The other 7 that aren't close are still alive and we are keeping ointment on the inner membrane through the pip holes I created. I have finally got the heat up at a consistent 102. Keeping high humidity.

OK SALLy SUMI all you knowlegable ppl ....question....
When eggtopsying an egg..... Can there be blood and red veins and it NOT be alive?

I had some eggs hatched not many though out of about 40 an dont know why still dont..perfect everything...Only guess is early on in incubating i took all the old water out as it hadnt been changed due to overlapping incubating in i dont know when although the bator looked clean. didnt hatch in it ever.
Low hatch rates ..maybe that?. Anyway left othereggs in for 3 more days past ht6ch date ...nothing. Tapped no peep tapped again nothing...opened at the air cell red blood oozed on some or/ and some red veining!!
. Touched these chicks in the egg..no movmement looked at them no breathing. Thru some out.
DID have one after opening about 15 that peeped He went back in the bator and all the other eggs about 6 that i hadnt opened back in
.He was a later dated chick not the ones im speaking about .
Ok Today 2 days more went by i take out the same eggs now its like 7 days past hatch...opened them 3 had blood again! no movement none to the touch either, cold to the touch but red veins and drop of blood!!
. Put 2 back in bator with wet paper towel .
Sad and Confused if i killed them or worse thru out live chicks Can there be red blood and red veins and them be DEAD?
Were they dying so no movement what so ever and cold ? or ??

I am not all knowledgable but from personal eggtopsy experience i did have a few that had blood and veins but were definitely not alive ... i assumed mine were just late hatch casualties .. some possible drowners .. i did not know much about hatching then ...

YEP! I had to skip the 275 posts since last night! :lau  and am just jumping right back in :lau

So here is an up-date on my next hatch.... I set the Sussex and Sultan eggs this morning (I could not find air cells in any) ... and got the citron hamburg eggs waiting to go in tonight............VERY DISSAPOINTED IN MY HAMBURG EGGS!!!!! 1st they are super tiney... the size of bantams eggs!....NO SMALLER than bantam eggs!!!!!! and the breeder assured me they are standard size... which I am now doubting, or if they are then they are from young birds, or they are the smallest egg laying hamburg EVER!..... They are also dirty!!!!!!!!!!! :barnie and I cannot tell AT ALL which side is the big end as both sides are identicall!!!! :barnie they are marked so I went with how she marked them..... I can see no air cells in any of them, BUT one had air bubbles!!!! AIR BUBBLES!!!!! I only got 4 eggs and she sent NO EXTRAS and I paid like 30$ for them!!! :barnie only because I thought they were standard size and I could not find ANY standard size anywhere......:he

SO WHATEVER..... maybe I will be plesently surprised in 3 weeks.......... Also I have a hight powered light comming for candeling eggs as I think mine is way to soft ......... I mean I should have seen air cells in the eggs that are 7 days old right????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Even dead or infertile eggs will get air cells....it's the way eggs are designed...you can tell how old an egg is by the size of its air cell...the older the egg the larger the cell...

OMG!!!!! social services should go to JAIL for THAT !!!! THAT IS UNMANAGEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!           :rant  :rant
There are much worse things happening to foster kids all across the country and there's no retribution for that...
