She's doing better. Still making that weird sound, but she's the first in and the last out of the FF bowl. I picked her up tonight to rub her beard (who can resist?) and her crop was pretty full. Poops are looking much better, and are less liquidy. I'm still doing the electrolytes in the water for the next few days, until I'm completely comfortable with where she's at.

Here she was this morning with the other 2. Such a cutie pie.

Our 86 cotournix are just going into lockdown as we speak. I had a temp spike on day 1 so If i did not fry them, we should have a pile if the little buggers by thursday.

Then a quick clean of the styrobator so I can put the 18 Pekins somewhere while the 183 chicken eggs go into lockdown on friday.

its going to be a busy few weeks in the Philippines

Good luck, ol' man.

Sorry to hear that, but peace with our mates makes life so much easier. Speaking of, do you think he'd mind if I add him to my healing circle prayer list? Just some new age candle lighting and positive thought sending. I always like to ask first, because some people are horrified at the thought of that sort of thing.

Oh my god! How do i get this chick to stop screaming every time i leave the room, i have hatched and raised lone chicks before but never had one this demanding, any ideas are very welcome

I was going to suggest a mirror, but I see you've already got that part. Can stuffed animals be put in with them? Not sure but it seems like it might help to have something to snuggle with? Or am I anthropomorphizing them too much?

Anthropomorphizing - lol Six syllable words are banned from BYC but attributing human form or personality to things not human is common with our pets. In this case, sometimes a furry toy works according to the other threads

Thanks Oz. I nearly had to google it since google knows everything.

How do you like sand in the brooder? I am thinking about trying it this time. speaking of brooder I guess I should think about getting one set up...

I'm confused. I heard ducks are so great, but you don't seem terribly impressed with your experiences. I'm seriously considering hatching some for myself sometime, but what gives? Are they good pets or not? I don't want to take on something I'm going to end up regretting, or worse, eating

Sumi, my only complaint is that they are incredibly messy. If I were able to free range them all day every day, I would love them. Mine are in a coop most days and it's incredibly messy. Water, muck, moldy hay, and poop everywhere no matter how often I change it.

As far as personalities, I believe it's how you raise them. My first batch of ducks ended up being a bunch of lunatics, but my little white Indian runner duck Aflack is a total sweet heart. Aflack got more attention and he now runs up to me every time I got out there. If I sit down, he will sit down next to me and stare at me until I agree to pet him. He's a very sweet duck and I will never give him up.
