That's what I have read also. Duck, turkey, and guinea eggs take 28 days, and chickens take 21. My concern is that waiting a week will put the chicken eggs at ten days old when I place them in the incubator, and I'm afraid my hatch rate will suffer greatly. But if I place them at the same time I'm worried that the bacteria from the chickens that hatch a week early will harm the other eggs. I do have a friend who has some very broody old English game hens, I might contact him about setting the chicken eggs for me under his hens, and incubating the duck, turkeys, and guineas together in my incubator.

I am 5 pages behind so I dont know if this has been answered.Ok, I'm sorry to change subjects on you guys but I have an emergency. I ordered chicken, duck, turkey, and guinea eggs off eBay and they all showed up today. I'm planning on hatching these in my new farm inovations incubator. I've only ever used broody hens to hatch in the past, and like a fool I didn't do enough research on incubating different species together. All my eggs showed up surprisingly in good condition, but I now know that my duck eggs might suffer when the chickens hatch seven days before they do. I plan on allowing the eggs to settle from shipping for 24 hours at room temp, then placing them in the incubator for 5 days without turning them, then start hand turning the eggs on day six. I plan on using the dry hatch method until lock down, and then bumping the humidity up to 55-60 at lock down. My eggs are only three days old as of now, if the shipper sent fresh eggs. Since I only have one incubator and no hatcher, I thought about waiting a week before setting the chicken eggs in with the duck, turkey, and guinea eggs to avoid contaminating the other eggs when the chickens hatch. Any thoughts or ideas on if this plan will work, or any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Hey Sally, thanks for the welcome. Glad to be here. Chicksooner, i will more than likely go with your idea on starting them a week later. My only other reasonable option is a friend of mine who had very broody oeg hens. I contacted him and he said most of his hens are setting on full nests already, but he would try to find room for my eggs. He also told me he holds back eggs for as long as two weeks before he sets them under a hen, because his game hens are such poor layers. I have no idea how he stores them though, or what his hatch rate is. Any advice from anyone on how to store eggs before incubating? Mine are in my safe room in my basement. It's humid, cool, and dark. Also i candled most of my eggs, and only found one duck egg with a detached air bubble. All chicken, and turkey eggs seemed fine. I couldn't tell a thing about the guinea eggs. I'm not sure if something is wrong with them, or if the slightly dark, speckled eggs are too hard to see through while candling.
