I just realized the new calendar I am using is a FUNERAL HOME calendar!![]()
This calendar says one of two things......
Either Sally has an addiction or Sally needs a Little Black Chicken book to show up in her mail box!
either way, I can see now why Sally writes the set dates on her eggs instead of X and O's![]()
Oz screw the chicken math ap, we need a MULTI incubation calculation calendar with alarms!
Awwwww how active is the pipsqueak? betadine/iodine the navel? This little chicky had an assisted hatch last night after trying for over 12 hours to get out on its own. This morning I gave it a long bath to remove all the stuff that was stuck to it everywhere. I soaked it for a while and gently began rubbing and slowly peeling off the membrane and shell that was stuck to it. I dried it the best I could and placed it back in the bator. It's navel is a little questionable still. Three eggs remain unhatched and I will candle one more time and look inside them later today to determine if they are dead or behind the others.

Quote: awwwww that stinks!
YAY!!! We are up to 5 pips one is already in the brooder dry and mad! lolrolling right along with the hatch. Lots of chirpy faces at 5:30 this morning when I sneaked a peek. slow hatch as I feared. I think the temps up and down kinda balanced out but still taking a while.
Quote: oh no! another reason to make sure you have the lid off the top of the jugs right!
Hey Rox! Good Morning! I had to run for cover as it is drizzling outside! ugggggGood morning Sally!![]()

if you have a fan send it down to either 99.5 100 and Marty can help with those questions better than I.Well... I finally found out where my sneaky duck had been laying her eggs; Behind an old duckhouse. There was a pile of them, and only one duck! Since I couldn't tell how long they had been there, I threw them out. Yesterday, I got 2... Somehow... One duck, one drake, and 2 eggs. I'll never know why she lays 2 eggs a day. LOL. So I ran those two eggs to the bator. 2 questions... I should know this, but I don't; What temp do duck eggs need to be at? And I wanted to do some MORE chickens, so I am going to get some chicken eggs when these duck eggs are 7 days old. So they all go into lockdown at the same time, and it doesn't mess anything up. But anyway, if I want to incubate the duck eggs AND the chicken eggs together, what should I keep the temp at? Right now it's at 100.3 degrees
I don't know if you intend to mist and cool your eggs?
There are some links in the hatching 101 article for scovy and they show the misting and cooling techniques,
which breed do you have in?
I have all mine in together and hatch in a hatcherbator.
Are you weighing or going to watch air cells?
Congrats!
I had four hens in the quarantine before selling them (easier to catch!). The woman kept calling the morning of the sale to postpone another day, another few days... And I kept wondering why I wasn't getting eggs. They had been squeezing their big bodies into a four inch hole (I left the rabbit nests in) to lay their eggs!Goosey actually got herself in quite the situation yesterday. I use milk jugs with holes cut out for their water and yesterday I decided to make one with a bigger hole so that Goosey could fit her head into it. Bad idea! I went out there a bit later and found her in the jug when one leg sticking out. The hole for her head was only 2 or 3 inches. I don't know how that huge month and a half gosling managed to fit in there..
