I am off for a bit, not sure what the day will hold for me but I am headed out to my gals for a while and see who needs what!

ENJOY YOUR FRIDAY my friends!

Awwww your sweet Tony! I have one other, and she is actually mine from peep, her name is "red" everyone told me don't get a RIR they are flighty and not friendly. WRONG
She is wonderful in the layerpen and the run is open, she is THE ONLY chicken I have never had to lift back in! (maybe because she flew backin herself or smart enough to see her demise in the dogs yard! lol)
Coffee is gross not quite as much as cigs, glad I stopped cigs, now coffee I am fighting, go figure! but I am down to one of those travel mugs a day I think its 1.5 cups?
I scared the poor little bugger when I turned a flashlight on to look in! I love the chick songs! he started cheeping and then I heard the eggs cheeping to the sounds of life! PRICELESS!!

oh WOW that does suck! I looked out at the road because I hear chainsaws and I can barely see, but there are about 5 tree trimming trucks out there, THEY better NOT hit a line today working!

There not flighty at all really. I only have a 2 1/2 ft fence the reds are in. And only one girl will fly over once in awhile. They can be a bit picky towards other birds. At least the ones I have can be.

Crud I forgot!!
I have an image for everyone to save and pull as needed LOL

with that I am out!

pichers he he he

I am not knowledgable like some but I actually had that happen to me today! The duckling pipped through the lower middle right above its yolk (could actually see the yolk) then turned and pipped even lower on the opposite side but only made it through the membranes not the shell. I opened the top thinking he was still alive and then saw where his second pip was and he had not been able to finish and died. When I was opening it I saw blood vessels on the top membrane where I took the shell off over the air cell so I didn't touch the membrane cause his bill wasnt there then when I saw the dark spot and took the shell off and there was blood! But he was without a doubt not alive. It was sooo Sad. My broody ducks hatch was an absolute NIGHTMARE!! 3 malpositioned (saved 2) 2 crushed (saved one) and 1 tried to rip its cord off in the nest (saved that one) & one pipped and never zipped (found already died still in shell under mom in nest). I'm so glad it's almost over! Only the one crushed one left with distended belly guessing because of being crushed and ruptured yolk.
Update though....the last duckies belly is almost completely shrunk to normal, I think her umbilical will probably fall off on its own but not outta the woods yet.
Well i feel better now as i havent had this happen before the veins and blood on dead.I think i had drowned the chicks that didnt hatch.Id had stickys lately so upped the humdity to 75.think it was too high 65-70 is tops i think for me
The one i heard peep when i open some shell did hatch the next day but then did not do well and stupid me didnt use the eye dropper with vitimins etc..like i should have b/c im using it to feed a tiny puppy and so busys there i let that chick just die and it may have been savable.... never know nowGUH..

rolling right along with the hatch. Lots of chirpy faces at 5:30 this morning when I sneaked a peek. slow hatch as I feared. I think the temps up and down kinda balanced out but still taking a while.

Its Friday Coch you have school? How the ducks and gos doing! Did you see Marty is in the house!!!
I don't have any classes today, but it will be busy.

Goosey actually got herself in quite the situation yesterday. I use milk jugs with holes cut out for their water and yesterday I decided to make one with a bigger hole so that Goosey could fit her head into it. Bad idea! I went out there a bit later and found her in the jug when one leg sticking out. The hole for her head was only 2 or 3 inches. I don't know how that huge month and a half gosling managed to fit in there.. Any ways, there was no wiggle room. She filled the entire jug with her body. She wasn't really moving and she wasn't talking either. "Alfack" was honestly running around in circles freaking out about it. We cut her out of it and she's ok. She has 3 small sores and her ankles is a little bit swollen, but otherwise she's fine.

Now I'd better catch up on everyone's hatches.

This little chicky had an assisted hatch last night after trying for over 12 hours to get out on its own. This morning I gave it a long bath to remove all the stuff that was stuck to it everywhere. I soaked it for a while and gently began rubbing and slowly peeling off the membrane and shell that was stuck to it. I dried it the best I could and placed it back in the bator. It's navel is a little questionable still. Three eggs remain unhatched and I will candle one more time and look inside them later today to determine if they are dead or behind the others.
