You may need to help it, but it may end up being able to hatch by itselfHelp! One of the eggs in my incubator pipped on the wrong end... Just a tiny pip but a pip none the less. What do I do?? If I just leave it is there a change that it will turn around? I feel horribleEvery single egg has hatched PERFECTLY so far. Something was bound to happen
If they pip at the wrong end it means they skipped the internal to external pip stage, so add that to the time they'd normally take from external pip to completing the hatch. If I get a wrong end pipper I open the pip hole a little so the chick can breathe and leave it in the incubator for 24-30 hours before I start considering assisting. If it hasn't made progress at all after 30 hours chances are it will need help. Do the assist as normal, but be very careful as you won't have the handy air sac space to work in as you would with a normal hatch. I found with my malpositioned chicks the inner and outer membrane is sometimes fused in some parts, so be very careful when you go in, so you don't accidentally damage the inner membrane.
