I don't eat chicken at all, so I don't know how that would feel, but I remember how hard it was for me when we started with the pigs. We raised a single pig as a gift for my parents and part of the deal was getting it processed and we took them the meat when all was done. Only problem was a well meaning friend got someone willing to do the deed for us and "willingness" unfortunately doesn't mean "capable". I will spare you the details.
About a year after that awful experience we tried again and got someone very experienced to do the necessary, but I still put it off for 2 months!! I just couldn't get myself to kill them after raising them and taking care of them every day for so long. And then there's the odd one you can't help but get fond off... But it gets easier over time as you do it more often. It's still unpleasant, but the emotional side of it will get easier.
