Coolerbator #2 runs like a charm! eggs are all split up!
Pics to come later of the 4 AMAZING banty cochin chicks, they are gorgeous one especially!!

I got the eggs mailed to Mel & Got grit and chick starter at the mill
Sold 10 more chicks, DH had to cull Tiny, he was still as small as he was a month ago and he started to deteriorate after I sold his last pen mate, wouldn't eat or drink anymore, poor boy was cute in his own way : (
Unfortunately Pine Cone flew to attack DH in the face, when he was cleaning the serama pen and bit him in the hand as he caught him. Needless to say RIP Pine Cone you mean azz tiny roo you. Harmony will miss you NOT. (she hated that mean roo, not for picking on her, but biting all her hens!)
WE got every coop, waterer, feeder cleaned and every bird dusted, all grit/sand containers filled, Serama separated.
WFS in with the layers for now (pray the don't fly out like good birdies)
I clipped my splash silkies butt so her eggs may all be fertile.
Finally cleaned out the poo and straw from the duck house. I do miss them : (
Spitz are in their new area with a run and they are too scared to go out LOL.
Did I mention I have too many pens and coops???
I am soooo ready to get rid of some chicks tomorrow and Sunday!!
8 bales of straw moved into the shed/coop for storage, not going to do the straw bale gardening this year since DH needs surgery : (
Maybe next year. Even had time for a shower, although we didn't get to eat out, we ordered from the pizza shop!

Dog poo and grass not done yet
Neither are brooders or hatcher cleaned, but I have time yet <stifle yawn> nappy time!

Quote: No since you didn't pull the pics so I can see them.

All right I am jumping in on the end of this one, I am going to attempt hatching vertical in cartons this run, and in a homemade incubator. It was intended to be a hatch-er but it holds temps better than my purchased one that I returned. So here we go! We are in lock-down, humidity is holding at 65% I have 10 eggs a mix of blue and lavender Ameracauna that have been subjected to bad post handling a few heat spikes a couple lower nights....well I hope something hatches! Best of luck to everyone else as well!!!

I'm expecting 6 mallard(gray) runner eggs and 8 more call (3snowy& 5gray) eggs to replace those inferts. The 6 gray runners are the ones I ordered 3 months ago so I'm glad he didn't rip me off but as of like 2 weeks ago he wasnt getting more than 1 egg every other day so I just hope he tested fertility. I told him I would rather wait for fertile eggs than have him rush and not be sure!
I need a brake from hatching ducks! I had to do like 9 assists in a week period! It's so nerve racking. But now I find out the lady I got the trout runners from put her dusky drake in with her girls cause the trout drake wasn't being frisky. She sent me a pic of the offspring that they've thrown and its gorgeous! Also she is in Oregon, she packs really well, I get them for crazy cheap and I have people who really want these color ducklings. So I'm probably getting a dozen sent next week........ but then I'm done!!!!!!!! U guys have to hold me to it cause I must be a glutton for punishment or a masocist or something!!
I love the new avy!!!

I will hold you bellah!!!

Quote: No, it doesn't do points. While it isn't an expensive model, Wal Mart only has one brand (that I remember seeing) and the models varied by inside/outside temps and humidity. This one was in the middle as far as models and cost. About $15. The room itself drops about ten degrees with the door shut.
I will add another thermometer today or tomorrow.
Assuming it is right, SHOULD I try to adjust, or leave it?

Oz do you have suggestions here? I would raise it, set my cell alarm and keep checking to make sure its back on, I wonder if putting it into a closet would help! That flux in the house is amazing, do you have a big window in the room? no other room like the bathroom you can keep it?

I concur with sally. You need to stabilize the bator. Having low temps will mean a long drawn out messy hatch. The closet is a good idea. My bedroom will go from 62 in the morning to 84 at 2 pm if I keep the blinds open - and its barely spring. Fan forced bators are much more stable but getting the temp at egg height to 102 is really important.

This is my fabulously rigged incubator, It is a 10 gallon tank, lined with styrofoam packing from a sword my hubby ordered, that conveniently had "water reservoirs" for the bottom already and was exactly the same width as the aquarium. I put the standard hardware cloth in the bottom and topped it with shelf liner. I use the fancy straw plus paper cup method of adding water as evidenced by the lack of removal of said items....lol Because this was intended to be a temporary fix for hatching I did not mount a light permanently but, it works beautifully with a 60 watt bulb with a lamp dimmer to adjust temp.

I wish the egg color transferred over better, they are so much more vibrant and blue and green and pink in person. And yes those two eggs in back are tiny, but I figured I am not going to be breeding so I would give my "faux bantams" a chance.

Too excited tomorrow should be the big day! Thanks for the good hatching vibes!!!!
