Lets talk about pasty butt. I have one chick that I've cleaned a few times. It builds up on its butt and gets hard. It's a runt and seems weaker than the others. I moved it and three of its mates into their own area With water that I added probiotic and electrolytes too. Is this the proper thing to do. I really want to save this chick. It's a blue laced red Wyandotte that is showing show quality colors at 3 weeks of age. It's the one that I assisted hatch that had to absorb its yolk and then I tied off the umbilical and snipped it.

I love save a chick in the water. Really helps the runts. Sounds like you are doing well with it. Maybe some scrambled egg for a good protein boost.

Yea. That's what they are. Save a Chick. I may try the scrambled egg if this don't work.

Incubating question: I have a friend that got a new still air for a hatcher. she moved her eggs over for lock down. Candled and all was well. Nothing hatched. I assumed it was her temp but she said she calibrated a thermometer and it was only 1 degree different from her other one. So the only thing I could think of was having the still air set to 99.5 instead of 102. Any other thought. Oh and the eggs were good. Mine and another local.

The lady that was to come for her silkies was on her way and then never showed up. I am such a worry wart, I hope she is ok. I cant figure out what is going on and I hate not knowing. I had to set two brooders back up at the last minute because I had them all ready for their new homes, wont ever do that again. Sometimes its best to NOT be prepared. Now I don't know if I need to place an ad or what! Confused and worried, not at the point of mad though, but thoroughly bummed I have been holding them for a few weeks now.
