question is how do you tell if they have internally piped other than hearing them chirp

If you candle an egg that has internally pipped, you should be able to see a beak moving around. Also, you should be able to hear a faint clicking sound. The clicking sound is caused by the chick trying to breathe with it's neck held tight against it's body. and then of course, if you hear them chirp.

forced air. Homemade plywood one. They did have pips. 2 of them this morning. They always do when I put them in lock down.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Yesterday at around 5 pm my goslings externally pipped.

So now when I talk to my goose eggs, they talk back!

I love her page. She has lots of nice birds and good prices, but I plan on taking a break from hatching once these next 2 batches hatch.

My temp gage only goes up by 1 degree. My average is 99-100. The optimal temperature is relevant only to your incubator. What I mean is everybody's is different. Even if you have the same one. Depends to me more on where you live, temp and humidity outside etc etc. I don't mind the early hatches. It's worked for me.

Now I have 3 pipping!!

I just can't right now. TOO MANY breeds going on right now. LOL. Breeding season next year is going to be a chore.
