I freed the beak and keep moistening the membrane. I'm almost sure he was mal positioned too

can you take pictures and has it tryed to hatch

I am wondering if whole grains in general are bad for 3 month old birds for that same reason? I just had a CCL die today she was choking to death and I couldn't help her. it was the first time I added whole oats and wheat to their feed. Do you think this could have caused this? I put the young birds in the layer pen recently and didn't even think when I added it to the feed this morning. : (

whole grains are natural. they should be fine. rice as we know it is dried - here is a picture of it drying near my house.
