I am so glad we are getting two days of dry, even though its hot and humid and ahhhh stinky as heck! They are grown? got pics?
e sounds like a teen wants to impress but can't quit pull it off yet ours where like that and the hens didn't respect then but when they got older they did the job and the hens respect that chickens are very old fashioned lol your eggs probably ain't fertile yet as he hasn't performed his job I'm thinking when he jumps on the hens backs you'll know he's performing his jobFirst time Rooster question. I've never had a rooster (until now). I'm trying to be able to keep him by putting him in a crate in the garage at night, and letting him out around 8 in the morning. He crows in the morning, and occasionally in the evening, but overall he's a pretty quiet guy. He keeps doing this weird thing where he "finds food" (or sticks, or nothing) and calls the hens over, and then does this weird twitchy thing - I looked it up and I guess it's normal, but it looks flippin' weird. The ladies have no idea what he's about and they run, or fight with him. My older hens are over a year old, and most of my pullets are laying. He's about 20 weeks old now. Will they all figure things out eventually? I'm (not so) patiently waiting for fertile eggs. I've put a couple in the 'bator for the last 3 weeks or so, and nothing... This is Melvin - from a couple weeks ago.![]()

I learn new things every day. Don't laugh Sally, I've never had a roster old enough to "dance" (If that's what you call that seizure looking thing) before. I was seriously concerned for his health and well being.LMAO! that's the rooster dance to the hens! giggle giggle snort
