We had a major power outage. 10 hours. The battery was good for 6 of them but I have had pipping guineas, 40 guinea eggs, 21 duck eggs. 5 peafowl and 5 turkey slowly dying.

Power just came on

Here is hoping
oh wow Oz!

doing what you and i are doing, i dont think we can be natural.  i do use some of the homeopathic remedies, but i have sulmet, corid, tylan and ivomec in case i need it.  im pretty sure tsc has me labeled as a drug addict, cause i pick up 2 - 25 packs of 28 ga needles when i stock up.
Meh, we are hardly organic - but I do want the chicks to live, LOL! I have a batch of shipped chicks coming in as well as 3 batches in the bator. I picked up some Corid too just in case I need it. Hope I don't - torn on using it preventatively versus as needed...

I haven't had to do any yet. I think I would just call my dad though.... It's kinda nice that my parents only live 15 minutes away. He processes my roosters for me. ;)

Could they have been warmed up enough to start incubating some time before you put them in the 'bator? I read somewhere on here about some one that was testing incubating for a bit, then cooling and shipping. They said they had a better hatch rate with those eggs.

we were in a heat wave here before I left so its a possibility but I had 11 boxes of shipped eggs arrive the same day.

also - those studies lowered the temps back to 65F and kept them there until restarting incubation.

at this stage, I just hope they survived the chill overnight. Bernie is waiting and hour for them to warm up and report back

Sumi did u ever do this? I read so much on this stuff and most times people get it messed up with the amounts of the concoction, and it doesn't "put them to sleep" as fast some suggest. For some that cant do the deed the quick way I would say this is worth a try though. I think most of us do it the quick over and done way.

EVERYONE.... whats your method?
i just do the old fashioned method. when the head is seperated from the body; i know they are dead. i never liked the vinegar and baking soda method.
