I do the same thing, but I use PVC and zip ties which seem stronger than wood and staples. I leave a "hatch" on the top so I can reach in and get them.
i find that pvc doesn't work well for me here in Ohio. when it gets below freezing it cracks really easy under the snow load. the cost was alot more too, i can build one of these frames for about $55.00, if i built a similar pen out of PVC (2") with the extra fittings i end up well above $100.00. the pvc would be lighter to move though. in any of these designs i look for something i can move by myself. i have one i made out of sawmill lumber, its 3 feet tall (4 feet at peak) the sides are about 1x10 on the bottom and 1x6 on the top. that one is to heavy for me to move without wheels.

Here in SC the PVC works fine. My first area I ever made was a 10x10 pen out of PVC. 3 years ago and still is in great shape. Maybe I will make a little house in the 8x8 areas out of pvc and some strong plastic or tarp. Getting some ideas here.

I've had my hoop house run for 3 years I'm in northern Ohio and it does fine. I have it covered with plastic so my d'Uccles can get sun and in the winter the sides get insulated with snow. It works well for me. I'm using another one for a quarantine house for 2 Black AM pullets that I got at Ohio Nationals, they are doing fine in it. The sides are made of wood and the top is made of PVC hooped so rain and snow runs off. I have a black tarp to retain sun heat, but here in northern Ohio the sun never shines.
