Like when my older son didnt ask his bro to be his best man in his wedding and he thinks his bro isnt hurt and Mom is making up crap, when I had been the go to mom about the issue. Oldest sons words "I musta been even more a jerk than I thought growing up" For him to say that was def showing the wedge they are creating. Unfortunately the fiances have so much power over the boys it annoys me. much more involved I care not to share. I swear I did something wrong with these kids! I failed at some point and its a shame.

I think there are a few of us who could use this skill. My filter fell out a long time ago but honestly I don't want it back. For some reason stupid people talk louder and more often than the people with some sense. I am declaring right here and right now that I am making a stand for people with common sense and intelligence.

Good job Sally! Don't worry about your boys. They will figure things out. I think one of the hardest things we do as parents is let our kids screw up so they can learn the hard lessons and be better people for it. Just be there when they are ready to fix things.

. I don't think that means you did anything wrong. They are grown-ups. You are not responsible for their choices or their behavior. My hubby and his brother have issues like that. It's just the 2 of them and they are only 2 years apart (my DH is the younger one). They have always been close, up until about 7 years ago. He and I got married, and had a baby on the way. Shortly (about 6 months) after that his brother brother got married (to a crazy lady), and they were expecting. It started feeling weird with them, like they (the brother and his wife) thought it was some sort of competition. My sister-in-law started picking weird fights about nothing with my MIL, and then with us. Before we knew it we were the "bad guys" and we didn't have any contact with them for over 4 years. DH and his brother would start talking again and then SIL would get mad and they would go back to not talking. It's hard because they were so close, and I know my husband misses having that with his brother. Everyone's feelings have been hurt, but if people would just let it go it could be fixed.
 
Letting go is the hardest part. I saw my brother for the first time in a long time this past summer. After that visit he decided he didn't want anything to do with me and I couldn't have contact with my nephews. He has a lot of baggage to get rid of. Stuff I got rid of a long time ago when I decided I was done letting people dictate my feelings. Being a grown-up is hard and it can hurt. You raise your kids to be independent and have good values, and hope you for the best for them. That is about all you can do.

Look at me feeling all emotional. Stupid holiday sentimental crap.
