Hello all! Happy New Year!

Breeding pens are mostly set up and filled. Will start checking for bullseyes and if butt trimming needs to happen it will be done on the next warm day.

2014 is going to be a crazy year for me. I found out a few weeks ago that we are having a surprise. Still have not announced it yet as we are still pretty in shock. So much for not being able to have any more kids. The miserable morning sickness is here full force but thankfully it is usually short lived.

Awesome! I'm still working on my breeding pens. I probably won't start this year's hatching until late February. It's just been too cold. Last week we had - 50 degree wind chills and they're saying that Monday will be the coldest day in nearly 20 years. Not fun.

I am not looking forward to Monday. Supposed to be insane cold for my area as well. I am having a hard enough time dragging myself out to take care of animals. The cold is not helping.

The governor ordered all Minnesota public schools to close on Monday because of the dangerously cold weather. The high is supposed to be -18 degrees and wind chills will supposedly drop to - 60 degrees.

We're going to Wisconsin on Sunday and we'll be staying for most of the week so I won't be here to see how the animals take this extremely cold weather...

Kids school was closed due to snow and drifting. It didnt get above 11 degrees today in the sun on my porch. Despite the heat lamps looks like the WFS are fairing well, its the CCL Roos that have some nasty looking starting on wattles and combs. I will take pics tomorrow if I get a chance, the less the coop door is open the better. I have a feeling their combs and wattles didnt happen over night, it may have been from the last cold spell as I handnt really inspected them well since. I will have to look it up and see what happens to the little black areas and if I should antibiotic or something. I really dont want to catch either CCLs or WFS roos, I havent made them friends for sake of having to eat them at some point, now I sorta wish I did friendly them and that I could vasaline the turds up good. But as they are I am NOT catching them for that, and praying I dont need to call in back up for treatment of frostbite on them. DH will NOT like it even more than me, I swear he is more scared of a rooster than Harmony!

I had a call into chad to come cuddle with them, he never showed up. lol
