We hit low teens last night. Unusual for the south... now dealing with frozen water lines

frozen lines in the house? thats real bad, ugh

Kids school was closed due to snow and drifting. It didnt get above 11 degrees today in the sun on my porch. Despite the heat lamps looks like the WFS are fairing well, its the CCL Roos that have some nasty looking starting on wattles and combs. I will take pics tomorrow if I get a chance, the less the coop door is open the better. I have a feeling their combs and wattles didnt happen over night, it may have been from the last cold spell as I handnt really inspected them well since. I will have to look it up and see what happens to the little black areas and if I should antibiotic or something. I really dont want to catch either CCLs or WFS roos, I havent made them friends for sake of having to eat them at some point, now I sorta wish I did friendly them and that I could vasaline the turds up good. But as they are I am NOT catching them for that, and praying I dont need to call in back up for treatment of frostbite on them. DH will NOT like it even more than me, I swear he is more scared of a rooster than Harmony!

I had a call into chad to come cuddle with them, he never showed up. lol
I don't blame his fear of roosters! My Basil is vicious! He seems to only get more mean as time goes on! XD It's a good thing I love him! (I want to take pictures, but my camera's lens has issues...) If Basil gets frostbite on his comb, I know that he isn't going to get any treatment (as much as I'd like to.) School was cancelled for me today, too!

I am glad your still keeping them, sometimes we decide to move on to bigger better things. Have you incubated again?
Nope. I wish I could have a million chicken babies, but first off, this isn't my property (don't think my mom would appreciate a house that smells like chicken poo again), second, we don't have enough money to buy the feed for a million chickens, and third, we also only have one coop that is made for four chickens total. XD When I get older and have my huge farm somewhere out in the boonies, I will have multiple coops.

Can't wait.

These chickens are my pets, and even if the rooster is the meanest rooster alive and his only purpose is to destroy you limb- from- limb, I still find him adorable and my baby.

But I seriously have no idea why. Maybe it's the way his bum feathers tufft out to and fro when he runs... lol Unless he manages to peck out one of my eyes, I will keep him (and I will be sure to make sure that that never happens!)

And the others are so adorable and friendly in every way possible! It would be impossible to get rid of them!

Sally! An ounce of bag balm as a preventative measure is worth a pound of dead frostbitten combs and wattles needing to be treated. Just sneak up on them when they're asleep. But take footage when you do. Wish I was closer, I would bag balm your roosters for you.
