PELLET STOVE AUGER MOTOR 1 RPM Very Quiet!, I cant seem to figure out the RPM and stuff on true turners

to compare but at $50 including shipping its ALOT less than $120. for a turner motor!

I have often thought about using tile inside a bator.

we use heatsinks all the time. the only issues i can see is that the incubator becomes heavy and that you would really want to make sure its stable before you put eggs in it.

as far as motors go.

the tiny motors used for the hovabator turners are geared to turn continuously and complete a full cycle every 4 hours. they run at 1/240 rpm

they are also the motor used as a timer for the sprtsman turner. they have an arm that triggers the larger 5rpm motor to run just long enough to turn the turner half a cycle. this 5rpm motor is also quite small but if the eggs are properly balanced, the load on the motor is minimal.

other options are electric window motors from cars and linear actuators. all are going to cost you close to the same amount to reinvent something that works

Gotcha! We will do a long bar rack system, with me manually turning or pulling for each turn. Not sure which direction yet. Hubs and I are arguing over the need for alum and not the wood he so wants to insist apon. He wont be cleaning anything nor has he ever needed to clean one! As its only a incubator and NOT a Hatcher he provides good argument. Need to think of ease of access to my eggs too, and I want to see what I am doing so I would love a light that I can turn on and off in the unit as well. I think I will go at least 1.5 yellow trays wide, perhaps a full two trays 12"+12" = 24" x 4 rows. It may be overkill, but its best to have it covered than not.

I am seriously thinking about the ceramics, good point on the warm up, but I dont see it being shut down for long periods at a time either. and I can find discounted for the amount I need, and I already have the adhesives and such. I am wondering if the adhesives would have any effects after dried out and set. I will probably use large tile and perhaps grout if I have fairly squared edges. or grout IDK didnt think that far yet

The more I read the more I get the idea that we should make the innards, that being the egg turning trays first and build the cabinet thereafter as some ended up with a bator that the innards didnt fit in! ha haha

I have to find some images and figure out how the alum for the trays is attached to the alum piece that holds them all together in the center, yet allows them to teeter. If its a screw with no threads at the top or what.

So far Cutler is my cheapest even for the latches, cheaper than I found at lowes

Its their shipping that makes or breaks a deal, so far I think its almost $50. shipping (but I have 25 small chick boxes and excelsior pads in my cart as well. I HAVE NOT priced the alum yet, Harmony got a sick belly last night and we had to leave before I looked at everything I wanted to price. (she felt better at checkout, asking for candy!!! ARGGGG)

Wafer board is cheaper than plywood. If you are going to tile the inside, the wafer board's unfinished side makes an ideal base for the tile.

My 20+ year old GQF 1202 cabinet is made of wafer board and they just put a good finish of varnish on it both inside and out.

you can get them cheaper - thats just an example - still much pricier than the yellow at cutler - great bargain

they take up just a little more space than the yellow ones and you can fit 50% more eggs in. They stack really nicely too.

I bought 100 of those yellow style trays in black when i was in the philippines i kept 10 and am selling the rest on ebay.

The pheasant / banty will be ideal for serama. they also double stack well.

ughhhh I am so cheap, I keep rethinking too much! we have been discussing this since DH came home. He doesnt listen to me EVER, so I think I will draw up an idea as he can never visualize what I am trying to say... Its not that difficult and I make it so with my crazy having to understand everylittle thing to get it perfect. maybe for once I just wing it and do what comes to mind
