Thanks Sally! Tomorrow night at 9:00pm eastern time my eggs will be at 18 days. Would you wait until Sunday morning to put them on lock down?
Sorry for all the questions.....

Okay, so last night was officially day 18!!! I weighed all my eggs with an average weight loss of 13.6%. Weight losses ranged from lowest of 10.5%-17.4%.
Below are pics of my lock down set up. The last pic is of the egg that lost 17.4% of it's weight. It still looks okay to me. I put the 3 worst saddle eggs in a little basket like you suggested, Sally. 2 of the other saddle eggs looked much better last night after the eggs did some of their dipping. I went ahead and put the humidity up to 65%, because day 17 I ran it at 50%, and still had some eggs that lost almost a whole percentage overnight.

Day 19 and I hear chirping and have one external pip. Guess it is good I went ahead and upped my humidity earlier today. My accurites must be a little off. I ordered new thermometers from incubator warehouse and my package is mia. Should have had them last week.

Many of you know that I mix my own feeds and am rather specific when it comes to feed ratios and protein content

Laying Hens- In the case of laying hens, Crude Protein (CP) and amino acid formulations are largely over-formulated with the hopes of getting a return in either egg size or egg number. Unpublished research from by Applegate et al., however, suggests that 15.3 g of CP (858 mg Lys, 450 mg Met, 585 mg Thr, and 638 mg Ile) is sufficient to maximize egg weight and production from 25 to 45 weeks of age versus birds fed corn/SBM diets containing 16.15 g of CP (874 mg Lys, 409 mg Met, 627 mg Thr, and 684 mg Ile).

For those feeding your chooks more than 15% protein all you are doing is creating more stink (ammonia) in your coop

Baby Girl caught red handed!

See Harmony's hen "Anchor" below? She is growing out a frizzle with the same coloring!
I MUST get pics of them, gorgeous chicks at 2+ months!
Below is ANCHOR and LUKE, Harmony insists the new chick is her baby.

Great pics, Sally. Those kids are adorable and that Harmony girl is a little model in the making. (Don't tell her I said that

I think your doing great, now its time to breath and start reading the assisting hatching article.....
I only see that you may perhaps need to help those malpositions in an attempt to salvage them if they do not pip.
Guide to ASSISTED Hatching

You will really need to study this article and understand the process they are going through, Most PEOPLE help too soon. You need to know MALPOSITION anatomy and such, ALL info is in the article!

I have found TYPICALLY if they have an external pip and my humidity is correct they will hatch. I NEVER pick at pips.
If I notice a few eggs that are not doing any external pipping about 6-12 hours after the majority has externally pipped, thats when I candle the ones that are not externally pipped and see if I still have life, if I have internal pips I write and activity in the shell, I make a circle where I see that internal pip and write the time on the egg, so I can watch it. If you have no life FOLLOW the steps in the article. SOME hatches have delays of up to 24 hours depending on breeds and such. ONLY YOU know whats in the bator!

I have a feeling you will hatch perfectly if you can have patience! BREATH, instead of fretting read read read! Watch videos of hatching and such! Gather as much info as you can! BE PREPARED for everything and anything!

You got this girl! IN THE BAG!

LOL thanks sumi, she is told that nonstop! She wants to be a teacher
