for now im just going to have a badly staggered hatch. later in the year i may see what my husband and i can come up with. i never get any luck with getting free stuff. i just candled some of the eggs and most look pretty clear...its disheartining. its day three as of now.

Just post on Craiglist! Also, I check every day.. You never know what you might find.

Personally I don't candle until day 10ish, because if you are going to see veining, you will see it then. Depending on the egg shell, it might be hard to distinguish anything in a day 3 egg. Don't be disheartened yet!

Ozexpat- ok thanks for the reply. I will focus on the turning first week and then reassess.

Sally, I am well--busy scoping out local eggs. I re-read your hatching 101 article. I am attempting a larger hatch this year. Probably about 28 eggs. Local though. No shipping this time. Am excited and getting spring chicken fever.

I have been watching, but no luck. And when I candled the eggs in my box incubator at day 3 I could see veins in some of them. These all look clear with barely anything inside.

dont bother till day 7 - duck eggs are easiest but on day 4 with muscovies we easily saw veins on 2/12 i was so disappointed but on day 7 we had 10/12

I'm gonna try to leave them alone. I do believe in the wait til day 7 thing tho. As I just recandled my box eggs and found that I now have 4/12 withe babies and veins. And I'm already crazy

Driving yourself insane with worry is part of the game, its like anything, new job, new whatever!  Its exciting and a challenge! 

Mostly I just like to watch as things change. But I'm gonna try my best to leave them alone. Atleast the ones in the LG my box ones get checked while they air daily

I am so mad at our local walmart super center! well its 45 minutes away but they reduced their containers section! I will have to purchase my brooder tubs online now! they used to have a full isle of that stuff in all shapes and sizes, not any more

that stinks. free shipping with amazon? walmart site to store? I have a bigger grow out pen that I use for older chicks. I just moved them out to the shed and put fresh chicks in the tub. My other tub is buried in the storage shed and I am going to do my best to not have to dig it out.
