Sally, afternoon...... I love the coolerbator.... I read the article you posted some time back on % hatch on eggs stored SEU (small end up)... No rotation etc. and the hatch was as good as, if not a smidgen better than SED eggs in an automatic rotator......

Have you tried the no-rotate SEU hatching method...

The semi-auto rotator is ingenious.... consider attaching a rod to it and extending it through the body of the cooler so the door doesn't have to be opened.... that's in my plans when I copy your cooler......

that was our initial plan to extend the rod out, but wellllllll you see I am short like 5-2 and shrinking every year, and me up on a stool or chair is an absolute no no this cooler is 42 inches plus the added "legs" on a table so its not feasible for my use. I sacrificed that but I do think opening the bator will have positive effects on the eggs as well and you would be amazed at how quickly that temp shoots back up, its a cooler just like my others, so its not much new, just a different arrangement. I was thinking about making a custom bottom out of skids into a cabinet for storage, but all the skids are in snow and ice this time of year, if I can move it lower and I can reach readily I will probably replace the flat alum rod.

and in regards to trays, if needed I can always run more flat stock under them if I need more support. But these egg flats are very structurally sound, so I brainstormed the idea and skipped the alum angle trays because I am cheap lol

If its ok can I copy this over on that thread so others know to take this suggestion as well?
