Ahh, what a wonderful morning, two hatched chicks and one more pip! Still 6 eggs after that...when the two that are hatched are all fluffed I will move them to the brooder and check the other 6 eggs quickly to see if they pipped internally.

Day 18 today for me!!! And I woke up and spent a good 15min staring at the eggs... saw more wiggling!! I'm going to weigh and candle today and then we'll see what happens. If I see that draw down or an internal pip I will raise humidity... otherwise I'll recheck tonight or in the morning by just holding my light against them without picking them up. My plan is to put them all touching each other like it mentions in your Hatching 101. I think I'm gonna be so nervous seeing new chicks knock around other eggs lol. Good thing it IS easter weekend because I have a bday party/egg hunt on Saturday (Day 21). So I will be forced to leave the house haha.

OK, so what is the lowest temp your eggs have survived and hatched? I feel so stupid; I was tired and forgot to turn the bator back on after I rolled eggs last night about 10:00 This morning they are 68 degrees

I had to rig something for humidity fast this time too, since I have no room for my dish with a sponge, too many eggs in hatch this time around!
I do have the two trays under the eggs but its not enough this packed, I think the fan isnt picking up surface area on them as much since its jammed

I have the sponges near holes so I can spray water in with a spray bottle lol

This was my rig job last night, I may use it from now on instead of on the wire with the eggs!

caulked! excuse the rusty caulk, I had a nail in the caulk and then I had tape over it to keep the caulk good for next use

I had to cut the other end down as my sponge is big, I still had to cut my sponge though.
Works like a charm, plenty of room for eggs to hatch AND it holds extra water to pull from!

I used two galv screwed to the side of the bator

I just weighed, candled and traced air cells. Pulled 1 clear Marans egg. Added all my weight loss's and then averaged them. My average is 13.1%!!!! AND it really appears as though the majority have "drawn down". I could see the chick in the back pushing up into the air cell and the front had pulled down in most. With all this, is it safe to say it's okay to go into "lock down"? I put X's on the lowest point of the air cell. I would say I have 2 that worry me - they are both marans eggs... the air cells are big. But I will just have to keep my eye on them. Going into lock down now - with a few that have not drawn down - is this okay? Or should I wait a little longer to see an internal pip and give those few more time?

Thank you!!

Edit to add: Will be going into lock down with 20 eggs out of 27 set - all shipped eggs!!
