So what works to candle darker eggs? I have some medium-brown layers, and IF THEY EVER START TO LAY, THE SLACKERS, dark brown, too, and blue/green/olive. My LED flashlight lights up white eggs in total darkness, but doesn't work on the others.

look on craiglist for an old slide projector. Don't spend too much money though, and make sure the bulb works because old projector bulbs are expensive. I used one from the 40s, just added rubber gasket the lens to keep from cracking the egg - worked great to see inside the egg, and no heat on the egg (the rest of it got hot though)

yes, I feel like MyPetChicken are a drop shipper - they put the order in and they come from somewhere else.. again I can't remember where I read this and don't know if it is true.

I am banned from editing the thread and updating my templates, Maybe I should go somewhere else

just trying to keep track in an organized way... thats what I dont like, having to read a million million threads to get to where/what I am searching... oh wellllll maybe I should have done it in an personal article?? oh well I will just copy paste to a word file... and replace the templates to excel or somethin

You might check the fine print of MPC's policy on hatching eggs re: fertility guarantee or lack thereof. Regardless, I'd recommend calling them and telling them why you think (know, really) the problem is with fertility. IME companies are often better on the phone than by e-mail.

You never know how close Silkie eggs might be. See if you can find someone who shows chickens, or check into the 4H network, and I bet there's someone close by raising red Silkies. I found Coronation Sussexes and freakin' Denizli Long Crowers both within a half hour's drive, and I'm in the middle of nowhere. (But I didn't find Cream Legbars, which is what I really want!)

Oh WOW - coz I'm such a newbie I don't know if that's just a function of the thread???? That would be a good question - does the 'edit' function go away after the thread grows to 'x' number of pages?? It might just be a function of the software and not you lovely Sally Sunshine!!!
