Hello everyone! I have just done an eggtopsie on my last egg (Whig sadly didn't make it) and I will post pictures in a few. Thank you for all your help! I will fix what I did wrong with my incubation and try, try again until I get it right. Hopefully one day I will be as good at incubating as all of you are!

Hi Sparky! Thank you for sharing...... so sorry the little guy didnt make it!! I am here to help you through the next one, but like I said in the pm's lets get that bator perfect, and the temp and figure out how to keep humidity in it... I will have to look, but I remember seeing in the DIY incubator section some homemade humidity control devices, perhaps you should scroll through some of that stuff on here first and see what improvements you can make.... you'll get better at it!! dont give up its so awesome learning and being part of such a miracle is a big big blessing in its own!

I LOVE!!! your coop!

I am SO going to show this to DH as he has a source for free pallets! Thank you for posting pics.
OK so here is a LITTLE more info on the pallet coop.... lol psss it looks like it will start raining so still not outside to make the 2nd Pallet coop!!

"Hinkel Haus" made of pallets and recycled wood picket fencing. ..

Hinkel is PA Dutch for Chicken btw!
Mostly recycled materials for the coop, two paint colors, all we have to finish up is our storage "step" under the door and some purdy lanscaping!

Window closed & window open

more recycled pickets for flower box and a little paint and sharpie made the Brahma hen

& Locken up below

the chickens door to go out to run from inside

pic from under double roost (at both ends) PS I NEED to make a poop board... on my list for a cleaner coop!

roosting from above

other side low roosts for heavier birds

below is an old garage shelving unit turned nest boxes, curtains for privacy lol

NOTES: even though front eves and rear are wired for ventilation, I want to LOWER the roosts and add more cross ventilation from each sides with cheap screaned vents

Large Dog house conversion for silkies

In the run

Thanks, like I said I am taking pics on everything we do, which isnt that much or difficult at all!! by tomorrow eve or monday I will have them all uploaded in the hinkel haus coop page and do my best to remember bolt sizes screw sizes and so on..... JUST get the skids that have the nice thick main frames, some are flimsy and warp and are a beeeach to work with cause of the twisting!!

I LOVE!!! your coop!

okay well heres the journey of my severely bacterialized egg that looked like day 21 when candled, but when eggtopsied, seemed less than day 14. WHAT HAPPENED?! (warning graphic images)

…..all i can say is- EWWWWWWWW- and gosh i REALLY need some help fixing my incubator because i REALLY dont think this is supposed to happen. EWWWWWWW.

Awww sparky.... it could have been so many things, the major temperature flux is what I would blame it on first. and like I said I would def research the homemade bators on here and see what they have rigged for humidity and steady heat, I read that lightbulbs are not of best choice.

Is the bator in a room that has a steady temp?
and post your pics of the bator from our msgs in here now, I want to have another look at how many vent holes and how big you have them, I have a few tiny holes in the bottom of mine and then twp about thumb size on top, you may have to close some of them.... you can just copy and paste the the pics in a comment because they are already uploaded. saves time and data : )

Plus I would work on getting more thermometers of different kinds to check on your acuracy of temp and all around the bator since its still air....
