I HIGHLY SUGGEST adding SAVE-a-chic when chicks are drying off, it gives them a MAJOR BOOST! see below the little lid with marbles in it???? they love it!!!
And perked up so much faster!!

Below is a chick that has a "hernia?" I have been watching her.....
its getting better each hour and going away! no blood just large at the umbilicle area

I always keep save a chick on hand. Comes in handy for the big ones as well. I cracked an egg when I was adding eggs yesterday. Decided it was not worth trying to save. 21 eggs. Will candle on Saturday to see what is going on.

There was a dead chick in the brooder this am, looks like she fell backwards on her back in between the tote side and the metal dish with feed and couldnt get up, poor thing... pretty grey brahma chick too : ( But the six still in the cooler bator are all good and fluffy eating and drinking still wobbly so they will stay in there at least till tonight, I want no more accidents in the brooder!

I think you should post the eggtopsie pics... I actually did that to a duck once and it crushed me I know how you feel.... But awwwww those chicks are adorable!!!!!!! Especially halo!

Just listed some of my Black Orp roos on craigslist. My heart is kinda breaking. Hard part is going to be explaining to the kids.
