hope everyone's birds are doing ok

Got an update on Peepers (my cross beak) accidental chicks they are all pullets and none are showing any sings of genetic problems

My little d'Uccle, Broke Beak, took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago. She has been inside in a cage all this time. She is nothing but skin and bones, very wobbly and unsteady. First thing I did was worm her, then we did an antibiotic, and now Vit E, Selenium, Poly-vi-sol. I feed her organic refried beans, scrambled eggs, yogurt for protein and good gut stuff. I even did steel cut oats today. I don't know what to do to help her. I don't know what is going on. Just hoping she'll get better.
According to my list, no one had posted here since my last question until tonight. I am sorry I missed this post.
How is Broke Beak doing? Did she make it? I am sorry you were feeling helpless. We can only do so much. You did a good job trying to help her. More than I would have thought to do!

not so lucky if you take into account the snake eating half of them even with me moving them and mama hen. But I did manage to catch that snake in the plastic dog kennel after it ate it's last chick and couldn't get out. Needless to say the snake went to live out its life in a swamp several miles down the road.

is this bird still a chick? If its still a chick the cross will probably get worse, if its grown than it shouldn't get any worse. If you read through here there is alot of good information on how to care for them

I do hope the chick doesn't get worse, but since she was born with the deformity, you need to be sure she doesn't breed.
Keep reading through the thread to prepare for her future.

I just found this thread and Im so glad I did. I like hearing of other's success stories with their cross-beaked babies. I just noticed that one of my two month old chicks definitely has a sever cross beak. All this time and with my old eyes I just thought it had something hanging out of the side of its mouth. Since it was brooded naturally with its mama I really didnt have that close of contact. Anyway, the good news is it is thriving right along with its sibs. Im amazed really as the problem should be slowing down its ability to eat. Evidently it is finding plenty of things it CAN eat. Ill try and get some pics of my baby and post them. It is a typical chick though runs from me whenever I get too close.
Thanks to you all for your positive posts.
