you got silkies?? or another really puffy headed polish ( a bird that cant see to well) that would be a good house mate for her. My Peepers stayed in the hen house away from others unless they also needed to be away from the pack a bit (how I ended up with him having babies). He also took in new chicks and played mama to them. But for now try just one that is smaller than her, ONCE her bleeding has stopped and is scabbed up pretty good.

Hi! I hope I am interpreting this right. I am new to this! I have the black and gold cross beak polish in the last post that was attacked. The bleeding stopped several days ago. I have 1 other polish pullet but don;t think she's a good fit with our cross beak. When I was at the feed store this morning, they had a silkie bantam that was 3 weeks old that I bought. When I put the 2 together, the silkie starting treating my cross beak like a momma hen would (I suspect) and crossbeak seemed to eat more. ??? I'll keep an eye on them.

chickens are group animals and hate to be alone, which is why I suggested a roommate for her. And a roommate that cant see to well shouldn't attack her to much. Good luck

She's super cute!!! And has the same color patterning as my little cross beak Lady! Lady is only 5 weeks though.

Lady got her first bath today. She smelled like poop, and she keeps following me in the house so I figured it's time for a diaper and a bath haha.

Hey guys - does anyone have any experience using chick mash to feed their cross beak?
Lady has tons of energy and follows me everywhere, but as soon as she sees food - including Anything that comes near MY mouth - she acts like she's dying of starvation. I'm worried she's too skinny and not getting the nutrition she needs.

Mine isn't a cross beak but rather an overhanging lower beak but it also seems always hungry. I've found it goes crazy for chick starter crumble I've added boiled water to then let cool to warm. She ends up with it all out the sides of her mouth and tends to go and drink on and off while eating but at the end has a big full crop so it must be easier for her to get down wet. I never see her with a big crop unless eating the wet and she seems to eat the dry all day long.

I'd try guving her some wet and see how she goes.

I gave her mash mixed with yogurt yesterday and she had a blast! I'll have to post some pictures later

This is my two month old partridge silkie bantam with a minor crossbeak. I have been feeding her a mush of crumble with water and she really enjoys it. I just don't know if this condition is going to get worse over time as it has slightly over the past week. Does anyone think this is going to progress?
