Diatomaceous Earth food grade?

Most definitely. Sevin does NOT equal DE. Food grade DE says "Food Grade" somewhere on the bag.

is seven safe to use on my chickens for mites or lice, by dusting them?

There is a DE that has a big yellow square that says FOOD GRADE. That's the kind to go with. If you get it from any Feed and Seed type store, they will usually know what your talking about when you ask for Food Grade DE. Good luck!!!

I order my DE online. 50 lb, it costs about $25 or so for the bag and about the same to ship it. But it lasts me several years. I use it for everything! In chicken food, around the cat food bowl to keep the ants out of it, on the dirt in the pens to control bugs and keep it dry and on and on.

debbie.h :

That IS NOT food grade. It is laced with chemicals to kill ants. DON"T FEED TO CHICKENS. I looked at a bag also and saw this so I order a foog grade bag online.

It is not "laced" with anything at all.

It's 85% Silicon Dioxide and 10% "elemental oxides" , with 5% water, which means it's basically pure DE as it comes from the ground.

There is nothing added to it at all

The typical chemical composition of oven dried diatomaceous earth is 80 to 90% silica, with 2 to 4% alumina (attributed mostly to clay minerals) and 0.5 to 2% iron oxide.[1]
