How long does it take for feather mites to start disappearing using de? How often do you have to dust them.?

DE won't get rid of the mites there is alot of controversy about DE studies show that it doesn't work at eliminating bugs/mites etc.

Then what gets a rid of feather mites.

DE worked very well on ours. We just put a bit in the litter and some in their dust baths. Within about 10 days, the mites were all gone. When we refresh the litter or dust bath, I add a tablespoon or so as a preventive measure.

Nope , you want food grade DE.

You should be able to get it at your feed store; that's where we got ours. I was very reasonably priced and you don't need very much.
