the bag will say

FOOD CHEMICAL
CODEX GRADE

This will be in large letters on the bag, if not take it back.

I purchased mine off e-bay

Permagaurd brand 50lb bag food grade DE is $25.00 + $30.00 s+h
total of $55.00 which is abput 10 or 15 dollars less than buying off the store wes site. It shipped really fast too.
most feed stores do not carry large bags of DE nor are they food grade, it would say so on the front of the bag not in fine print.

The invoice clearly states Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade 40 pound bag, $31.99. Hmmmmm?

I've just e-mailed the maker of the product and asked them. I'll let everyone know their response.

Okay, as promised here's an update:

The factory didn't return my e-mail from last week, so I called them today. They confirmed that even though it doesn't specifically say so on the bag, their product is certified "Food Grade" and perfectly safe for critters and humans.
