Dickey vs Sportsman incubator

We did price quotes for both the Sportsman and the Dickey... the shipping varies depending on your area. We have to pay about $300 in shipping for something that size, since they weigh close to 100 pounds and are too large for USPS.

My DH surprised me with a Sportsman, and I love it... however, the construction is not as sturdy as I was expecting. I probably would have gone with a Dickey over the Sportsman, but timing was an issue. I think I'm going to try to build my next one.

Still wondering about the computer monitoring on the Sportsman. Anyone have experience with this? I checked out the Brinsea models, and R-Com. I actually have a tiny R-Com unit that I used for a school project once. Worked great. I like to set about 36 eggs at a time now. Looking for something really stable on humidity, with even heat distribution. I was considering the Sportsman over the Dickey only because it looked like the Sportsman's monitoring system might be something to alleviate my tendency to worry. The Brinsea 40 could work, too. It seems fully automatic if you add the whistles and bells. Not sure I like the looks of it though. Seems like it would be hard to view. Ugh! I'm getting more confused the more I research.

and i have no say on the Dickey,, i havent used 1.

kk heres the front, the pack of cigs are there for size reference,, im a hippie,, so way to lazy to go get the tape measure heh

this is the door open,, as you see,, theres not trays that turn,,its just flat racks with sides, but front and back are open, and the blue trays you put the eggs in, dont fit snug, they have an inch of movement side to side

thats what i dont like..

and the hatching trays for the 1550 hatcher dont fit in the bator on the racks..

and the hatching tray in the bator is heavy plastic, very easy to clean, and scrub, and no top, but it is way taller then the hatching trays in the hatcher..

hmmmm ,, looks like its a "work in progress" lol
